Definition of "Black box" for D365 F&SCM

  • An external warehouse system is mapped as a single location from the perspective of Dynamics 365.

Information D365 F&SCM has about the external system

  • Quantities, value, and inventory dimensions:
    • Product variants
    • Batches
    • Serial numbers
    • etc.

Information D365 F&SCM does not have

  • Exact storage locations of individual items inside the external system.
  • Storage and retrieval strategies, which are managed by the external warehouse solution itself.
